‘I am a go-getter’: Amit

Amit Tandon (TOI Photo) He is a fighter and refuses to call it quits. He makes things happen. And hes hopeful of carving a niche for himself without any Godfather in the entertainment industry. Thats television actor Amit Tandon for you.
Acting and singing both come easy to him. Now that his album is ready for release and hes all set to do a music related reality show, things are looking up for him.
He is quick to admit that his stint with anchoring is seemingly keeping him happy until of course a major role in a film comes his way.
He says, Any performer would like to take up movies because of the scope it offers for an artist. But I am not intending to take on a role unless I am convinced that it is a major one and it will get register with the audience. But before that happens, producers need to believe that I am worth the money and bankable enough for them. In fact, I have started working on this aspect. I am trying to establish a star value by offering different levels of performance as a singer, actor and anchor to make the producers feel safe about the fact that I can bring desirable level of success to their projects.
Well, thats not enough for him. He has also plans of direction. I already have ideas. But too many things will probably spoil the soup. I definitely seem myself directing at some point though, says Amit.
Ask him what keeps him going and he says as a matter of fact, I have never learnt to quit. Whenever I face negativity, I fight it out. Be it professionally or in my personal life, I believe in making things happen. And I believe it is because if my fighting spirit. Being an NRI without any connection in the industry, I have carved my won space in the industry.
He believes that stepping into Bollywood is far easier than getting into Hollywood and more so because of the low acceptance of Asian Americans there.

Did he have any apprehensions before coming here? Amit says, Initially I was hesitant about audiences accepting me. To top it, my Hindi was very poor, which made me quite nervous in the beginning.
Ask him about his journey till now and he answers, My grandfather has been my inspiration as he always believed in me. That apart, my wife Ruby has been very supportive of all my endeavours. She left her well established career as a cosmetic dermatologist to be with me and give all support. That makes me believe in the power of love and inspires me to do even better in my career. I am lucky to have her in my life.
That sounds almost like a dialogue from a Bollywood blockbuster. But then thats the stuff dreams are made of.
